The Internet is a wonder of the modern age with many young people having never known a world without the web at their fingertips. But what impact is this online world and constant connectivity having on the malleable, still growing teenage mind?
In collaboration with national film education charity Into Film, we’re proud to bring you a brand new lesson plan that looks at the complex relationship young people have with the internet, all inspired by thought provoking documentary InRealLife
Taking us on a journey from the bedrooms of British teenagers to the world of Silicon Valley, InRealLife looks at both positive and negative effects and seeks to raise understanding about the impact of the Internet on the lives of the young people who use it so actively.
Designed to open discussion and debate around internet-related issues, this new KS4 full scheme of work is comprised of five units tied directly to National Curriculum objectives for English, with cross curricular pointers to ICT, PSHCE and Media Studies.
The wide-ranging lesson plan activities encourage young people to assess their own Internet usage and understanding of the effect of the Internet across a number of themes…from the concept of addiction, Internet safety, privacy and identity to the potential dangers of the web, relationships and sexuality, and the severity of cyber-bullying.
